Surreal

Surreal: sur·re·al–adjective

1.

Having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic: surreal complexities of the bureaucracy

Do you ever get the feeling that you’ve transcended The Twilight Zone and stepped straight in to an Impressionist painting, as the petal of a sunflower? That pretty much sums up the last couple days of my life in Fontainebleau.

Loads of fellow students are arriving in earnest now.  I was on campus the other day and the place was packed.  As “international” and “diverse” INSEAD is, supposedly, the cliques are forming.

The Red Corner is getting together.  Punjabi groups are getting together.  American crews are getting together.  What happened to learning from each other?

The first chateau party is tonight.  Let’s see if they live up to their reputations.

vou would be surprised if you knew how critical your entries have so far been to me. it’s almost as if some message is meant to me… and please no cynicism here cos i believe what i am saying very much… ..ill tell you the story…
I have just been admitted to INSEAD and i was comparing it to another school (a bit lower in the ranks). as i was going through blogs and talking to alumni to understand more., everything i heard about insead sounded like “perfection” to the point of being unbeleivable.. i thought there must be some big pimple here that needs to be uncovered, i tried to find it out through inseaders but noone gave me an honest opinion as yours…. so i guess you can now understand how grateful i was to read your entries…
i am still not sure whether i will choose insead or not, however, i thank you for giving a real and honest image of what to expect .
finally, please keep posting … i am interested to know how things develop… and certainly wish that they get better…..

DTLF Responds: I’m a firm believer in the catchphrase Caveat Emptor. If you have read all of my posts, then you’ll no doubt remember the one where I said something to the effect of ‘every cloud has a black lining.’ Every school has its downsides. Wharton is in Philly, for fuck’s sake. Who on earth would want to live in Philly?! INSEAD is a great place, and I urge you to visit and make up your mind for yourself. Feel free to email me directly with any questions.

you sound pretty displeased with many things about INSEAD… hopefully things turn for the better after school starts?

The Question I ‘m really curious about is: Would you rather be in another school then?

DTLF Responds: Refer to my response to the previous comment. I’d be pretty displeased anywhere: Atlantis, Olympus, Valhalla, you name it.
